Supplemental Security Income Advocates

At Pekoe, Reed, Wright & Associates, we are advocates of Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Not sure what Supplemental Security Income is? Pekoe, Reed, Wright & Associates is here to help. SSI pays monthly cash benefits to people who have low income and are disabled, or are blind. Despite contrary belief, SSI is not only for adults. Monthly SSI Disability benefits may also go to disabled and blind children.
The standard of disability is the same as with Social Security Disability (SSD). However, in order to qualify for Supplemental Security Income, a financial need threshold must also be met. SSI kicks in for the disabled when they do not qualify for SSD, or the amount of SSD they qualify for puts them below the financial standard.
We will be glad to talk to you about all of your social security concerns. Please call us at 407-647-8533 for a free consultation. We'll be glad to talk with you about all of your SSI concerns, and give you clear answers to your questions. Our service eliminates long lines, endless busy signals, difficult forms and expensive legal fees. You can stay home and look after your health while we work to win the benefits you deserve.

Social Security Disability FAQ

Social Security Disability can be a confusing thing, but PRW is here to help. Check out some of these frequently asked questions:
Q: What are Social Security Disability Benefits?
A: If you have worked enough years, and paid enough Social Security taxes and you are disabled you may be eligible for Social Security Disability benefits including long term financial assistance and/ or Medicare.
Q: What does Social Security consider disabled?
A: To be found disabled you must be (1) unable to do any substantial work because of your medical condition(s); and (2) your medical condition(s) must have lasted, or be expected to last at least one year.
Q: Who decides if I am disabled?
A: The Social Security Administration is linked with State Disability Determinations Services (DDS) offices. the DDS makes individualized decisions using SSA rules and guidelines. The claim is reviewed, the facts evaluated and a decision reached.
Q: What would happen if I try to return to work after I start receiving Social Security Disability benefits?
A: You may be eligible for a nine-month trial period to test your ability to work. You would continue to receive benefits during this trial period.
Q: Why do I need representation?
A: Statistics continue to show that individuals who have competent representation stand a much better chance of winning SSD benefits than those individuals unrepresented.
