How PRW & Associates Can Help You

When you hire Pekoe, Reed, Wright and Associates to represent you in your Social Security Disability or Supplemental Security Income we notify Social Security and immediately begin preparing your case. We take responsibility for the details of your claim and inform you of your case’s progress. You are represented by the same local advocate from the day you hire our firm until the day your case is finalized, and you will have access to your advocate by phone, email, or in-person meetings.

Here's how we can help:

In-person consultation: Unlike many of the large firms where you don’t meet your advocate until the day of the hearing, at PRW you are not just a number. You develop a one-to-one relationship with someone who cares about your case. We fully understand what a reward of benefits means to you and your family.
Analyze your situation: We analyze your situation, whether it is disability, retirement, children’s or survivor’s benefits to determine whether you are entitled to disability.
File your claim: We help you file your initial application if you have not already done so.
Prepare appeals: We prepare and file the mountain of paperwork Social Security requires at each step of the appeal process.
Obtain evidence: We secure your pertinent medical records and other necessary evidence (e.g., school records or employment records) and submit them to Social Security.
Obtain affidavits: In an effort to establish the best case based upon all relevant circumstances, we obtain affidavits from friends, family or colleagues regarding your limitations.
Schedule an examination: We may request Social Security to schedule a consultative examination for you or refer you to a doctor or psychologist for an examination when deemed appropriate.
Get your doctor’s opinion: We may ask your doctor for his or her medical opinion regarding your medical problems and how they limit or restrict your abilities.
Prepare you for hearing: Prior to your hearing we meet with you in person to prepare you for your hearing.
Prepare hearing briefs: We prepare written statements for the Administrative Law Judge's (ALJ’s) review about why your disability warrants benefits.
Represent you at your hearing: We represent you at the administrative hearing.
Review award letters: We review the award letters Social Security sends to be sure you are getting the correct amount of benefits.

Every case is different, but every case deserves our full attention. Our team at PRW strives for the Social Security Administration to make the most favorable decision regarding your claim as quickly as possible.

Supplemental Security Income Advocates

At Pekoe, Reed, Wright & Associates, we are advocates of Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Not sure what Supplemental Security Income is? Pekoe, Reed, Wright & Associates is here to help. SSI pays monthly cash benefits to people who have low income and are disabled, or are blind. Despite contrary belief, SSI is not only for adults. Monthly SSI Disability benefits may also go to disabled and blind children.
The standard of disability is the same as with Social Security Disability (SSD). However, in order to qualify for Supplemental Security Income, a financial need threshold must also be met. SSI kicks in for the disabled when they do not qualify for SSD, or the amount of SSD they qualify for puts them below the financial standard.
We will be glad to talk to you about all of your social security concerns. Please call us at 407-647-8533 for a free consultation. We'll be glad to talk with you about all of your SSI concerns, and give you clear answers to your questions. Our service eliminates long lines, endless busy signals, difficult forms and expensive legal fees. You can stay home and look after your health while we work to win the benefits you deserve.

Social Security Disability FAQ

Social Security Disability can be a confusing thing, but PRW is here to help. Check out some of these frequently asked questions:
Q: What are Social Security Disability Benefits?
A: If you have worked enough years, and paid enough Social Security taxes and you are disabled you may be eligible for Social Security Disability benefits including long term financial assistance and/ or Medicare.
Q: What does Social Security consider disabled?
A: To be found disabled you must be (1) unable to do any substantial work because of your medical condition(s); and (2) your medical condition(s) must have lasted, or be expected to last at least one year.
Q: Who decides if I am disabled?
A: The Social Security Administration is linked with State Disability Determinations Services (DDS) offices. the DDS makes individualized decisions using SSA rules and guidelines. The claim is reviewed, the facts evaluated and a decision reached.
Q: What would happen if I try to return to work after I start receiving Social Security Disability benefits?
A: You may be eligible for a nine-month trial period to test your ability to work. You would continue to receive benefits during this trial period.
Q: Why do I need representation?
A: Statistics continue to show that individuals who have competent representation stand a much better chance of winning SSD benefits than those individuals unrepresented.
